
NABH ACCREDITATION
Smita Memorial Hospital & Research Centre, Thodupuzha is the first hospital in Idukki District to achieve NABH Accreditation for both Hospital and Nursing Excellence. NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers), accredited by ISQua, is on par with global benchmarks like JCI, HAS, and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
Established under the Quality Council of India (QCI) with support from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, NABH sets over 600 stringent standards spanning patient care, organizational practices, and nursing services. Accreditation ensures continuous improvement in quality, safety, and clinical performance, aligning SMHRC with internationally recognized best practices.
Green OT Certification
On 10 Aug 2023, SMHRC became the first hospital in Idukki district to receive Platinum Grade Green OT Certification. Developed by Bureau Veritas, this certification ensures operating rooms follow global standards for safety, efficiency, and eco-friendliness—from airflow and infection control to waste management and anesthesia practices.

Eat Right Campus Certification
Smita Memorial Hospital & Research Centre has been recognized by the National Food Safety Department, Idukki under the Eat Right initiative, supported by Satiety Food Research and Management Pvt. Ltd. and Assure Food Solutions. This certification reflects the hospital’s commitment to promoting safe, nutritious, and sustainable food practices, ensuring the well-being of patients, staff, and the community.
